A petite girl strode through the long hallway of doors, wavy hair bouncing with each step. She carried very little with her, a suit case and a simple carry on, neither big in size. This girl wore a semi-sheer Dolman top with light wash skinnys and knee high brown boots; Clearly she knew a thing or two on fashion. Her hair was a bright caramel brown and hung off her shoulders in a wavy shroud, looking glossy and well kemp, framing her face in a way that brought out her eyes wonderfully. Now these weren't normal eyes, although they were pretty. One was blue but not just any blue. The kind of blue that lives in the ocean: deep, secretive and cold. The other was green. The kind of green you see in the grass of a lush meadow: Bright, beautiful and warm. This was Ashton Elestren. She swiveled her head side to side in a constant rhythm, checking each door for a certain number. destroy After sometime of this, the swivels stopped. She came to a halt by a large door and carefully let herself in.
The room was quite large and barren except for a set of twin beds, two rather small book shelves, two bed side tables, and each a matching dresser. Both beds were located directly in each opposing corner, the first a mirror image of the other. damage Next to the bed was a lone bedside table and at the foot, a small bookcase. The only other thing in the room was a large window located between the beds in the center of the room with an excellent view of the city. crush
Ashton walked cautiously towards the bed on the left and set her luggage atop it. Unzipping the suitcase revealed numerous expensive-looking books, each carefully placed with a clear film over them, made of some flame retardant material; Books like these were very hard to come by, she could buy clothes later on. burn This issue was more psychological than it seemed. Ashton didn't feel the same as she used to, almost as if the glimmer of popularity and nice clothes was replaced by a more simplistic feeling. She'd gotten rid of most her clothes, replacing them with books. The old Ashton was gone and new Ashton was being created. demolish
She then placed each book on the bookshelf, having some trouble fitting them all in; It would be replaced with a couple large ones soon. After the books were organized, Ashton hid her suit case in the closet and turned towards her carry on. shred This bag held her sundries: Some articles of clothing, two pairs of shoes, a few hair tools, various picture frames, few personal items, and some toiletries. She emptied the bag by dumping it on her bed before putting each item in its intended spot. Last but not least she turned towards the personals. Aston placed a small glass picture frame of her and a smiling man on the bed side table. A similar frame was set along side the first, the contents of this one a smiling woman with the same grinning man. kill The last item on her bed was her escape, one of the only things that could drown the voices out; a large, expensive Beats by Dre speaker in a glossy red. One would wonder how this speaker fit in her bag if they weren't too distracted by her choice of music. Upon turning the electronic on, the heavy melodic style of Lorde's Buzzcut Season filled the silence. you can't drown us out-I remember when your head caught flame It kissed your scalp and caressed your brain Well you laughed baby it's okay It's Buzzcut season anyway Ashton grabbed a particular black book, gold writing elegantly scripted in the center of the cover, off the shelf. It was titled simply The Raven, a classical and dark work by the immortal Edgar Allen Poe. Before she sat down with said book, Ashton took a moment to 'admire' her room. It wasn't as personalized as she would like, but it would have to do. After a sigh, she plopped her self down on the covered bed and cracked open one of her most read books, all the while her music played.Explosions on TV And all the girls with heads inside a dream So now we live beside the pool Where everything is good Ashton knew she should be socializing or picking her classes for the semester, but she couldn't be bothered. Ever since the X-men found her, she's been hustled and bustled without a moment of privacy. Now that she had a chance, she wasn't giving it up! Not even had Ashton begun Edgar's first work was she interrupted, a loud knock sounding at the door. We'll always be here; You can't escape

Anaya stood at the door, she knew she had to be cautious it was bad enough that her father had already discovered her secret. But this world was so warm and inviting she had to at least try to immerse herself. Or so she thought. The barren time she came from was a wasteland of charred rock and brimstone. Changed by events that hadn't yet passed. Events she had to stop from being set in motion. Her voyage to this place in time was like waking up in the Garden of Eden. Everything was so beautiful, she didn't have friends in her time. And she didn't see how trying to make any this time would be a problem.
"Hey, I don't think we've actually met. I'm Anaya... I'm kind of new here too." This was a new side to this girl. She was usually the most calm and collected of the group. But this new situation was bringing out something she'd never experienced. Anaya hoped she wouldn't end up making a fool of herself, it was bad enough being the fish out of water that she was without compounding the strange circumstances of her arrival.

Ashton pulled herself from the sheets and sauntered over to her speakers. She turned the sound down only slightly; The voices wouldn't pass up an opportunity to make their appearances yet again. She walked towards the door, stopping right before it. Its okay Ashton. You won't hurt them. You can make friends. She put a smile on her face before tuning the knob, the door opening before her.
Ashton couldn't help the small flicker of black flames sprouting from behind her as she gazed at the girl. The flames were invisible to the untrained eye, so Ashton was curious if Anaya saw them.
"Hello there, Anaya!" Ashtom grinned yet didn't offer her hand; She didn't want to take any chances for either of them. "I'm Ashton!"

"Pleasure to meet you." Anaya stared almost blankly for a moment. But smiled anyway at the lack of the common hand gesture. She just put her extended hand to her side. The flames almost escaped her notice, though they weren't entirely visible to her. She didn't have her father's keen eyesight. But she did see an alternate timeline of her touching the girl's burning hand. "I wouldn't worry too much about that." Anaya said with another smile. "I was impaled this morning in the danger room." Anaya was about to leave her sentence as it was but then she remembered how strange this had to sound to someone.
"I heal abnormally fast, and I'm an energy projector." Anaya said putting a hand out in front of her, closing her eyes for a second and a brilliant blue light began to sparkle in her hand. It warped around at her every whim, this matter though very much like plasma was completely controllable on a psionic level. Anaya closed her hand and the light harmlessly dissipated into a final bursting glimmer. "So what can you do, Aston?"

Ashton nodded, that gorgeous smile never fading. "The pleasures all mine!" She ran her hand through the honey locks as Anaya spoke. She only scoffed a little when Ayana said it was okay to touch her. No matter how sure or safe Ashton felt she could never risk that happening again. That hand continued it's mission until Anaya spoke of the 'danger room' and getting impaled. At that Ashton's mouth flew open and her hand dropped to her side.
"You got impaled?! Didn't it hurt?!" Ashton mentally slapped herself; Of corse it hurt, she got impaled! She'd never met another mutant before, except for the X-men who 'saved' her. As Ayana spoke of her powers, Ashton couldn't help but hang off every word she spoke. It must be amazing to have such, well amazing powers! As if explaining the powers didn't awe her enough, Ashton's jaw nearly hit the floor as the blue aura surrounded Ayana's hand.
"No freakin' way! You weren't joking!" Ashton leaned in and examined the blue plasma until it dispersed before her. Realizing how awkward it was to be standing out in the hall, Ashton gestured for Ayana to enter. "Why don't you come in," She waited for Ayana to enter so she could close the door behind her. Ayana's next question caught her somewhat by surprise. "What can I do? Well... I destroy things."
The men up on the news They try and tell us all that we will lose But it's so easy in this blue Where everything is good
You can't drown us out forever, Ashton.

Anaya stepped in an sat down on the unoccupied bed in the room. "Well, yeah it hurt. But ever since I got my powers my dad trained me hard. So you could say I'm used to it." The phrase probably sounded brutal, obviously the seriousness of her statement would be realized with the inevitable danger room power evaluation. When Ashton would meet Wolverine.
"This really isn't that impressive. Some of the senior members can do waaaaay more! Like Psylocke, and Night Angel, Rogue... Then there's the junior hottie Flashburn." Anaya said letting herself get carried away in conversation. "You're gonna meet everyone eventually."
Anaya was a bit estranged to hear such a short answer to her question about the girl's powers. "Come on, it's not as simple as that... How does it work?" Anaya said not giving much thought to the situation. She then bit her lip. "You're new to your powers, aren't you? I'm sorry, your world's just been flipped upside down. This is the only life I ever knew, so mutant powers were just an expected adjustment for me, so I was prepared. I can't imagine what it must be like for someone to go through that unexpectedly." Wanting to change the subject to something else Anaya thought for a minute.
"So what sort of things do you do for fun?" Anaya asked. Truly it was an honest question that she'd never asked anyone before. She'd never had any friends to hang out with, just a group of mutant girls from the future that made up a band, but that was it. Her only real social experience, and it wasn't that great.

Ashton closed the door with a silent click and followed in suit of Anaya, sitting on her own bed facing the girl. She nodded in disbelief as she spoke. "Geeze! I don't think I'd ever get used to that.
"What do you mean that's not impressive?," Ashton crossed her arms over her chest but soon dropped them to the edge of the bed so she could clench the sheets. Just a few days ago she was ignorant to the existents of mutants, and now, not only was she to meet so many more, she was one herself.
"Urmm...," Ashtom struggled with this next question. She honestly didn't know all she could do and how much she could control. One thing for certain, she could easily destroy the chair across the room but wouldn't be able to stop just there. "You're fine! It's really no big deal but I am new to this whole... Power thing... Maybe I can show ya later?"
Ashton began to play with her hair awkwardly one more, the flames starting to grow larger against her knowledge. She let out a silent sigh of relief as Anaya changed the subject. "I do a lot! I read, do gymnastics, hang out with friends... You know.. The works!" The subject of friends began to weigh Ashton down a bit, but it wasn't too obvious.
And I'll never go home again; Place the call, feel it start) Favorite friend; And nothing's wrong but nothing's true I live in a hologram with you We're all the things that we do for fun; And I'll breathe, and it goes Play alone; Make-believe it's hyper real But I live in a hologram with you

Anaya sat there and listened she was quite intrigued this was a new concept for her. All Anaya was ever used to having as a constant was her seven bandmates as they performed for his excellency. Even her father couldn't risk being there all the time. And Psylocke was a prisoner. "I say that's not impressive, because there's other mutants with more elaborate abilities. Like Stone Talon, he can animate stone sculptures and morph his body into stone also taking on any form."
"We'll find out how they work soon enough. We have a danger room session scheduled for tomorrow for us so called rookies. We'll have a lot of fun with that. It's just some light combat training, or other scenarios and situations to test our abilities and reactions."
"That certainly sounds like a lot of things. I just sing and dance." She could have mentioned fighting, but what for. Being skilled in three different martial arts wasn't so much an accomplishment it was a necessity. One that needed no mention.

Ashton watched the Ayana curiously. She was sure this girls powers were amazing, but there was no way she could compare hers to the other. "I guess that means there's plenty of conpitition." Sarcasm dripped from her words as Ashton started feeling wary of the situation she'd brought herself in. If she couldn't keep the voices under control.... The brunette pushed the thought back and chose a new topic of conversation.
"The danger room? What's that?" Ashton knew this was pretty self explainitory, but there was no harm in asking. "It'll be safe right? I mean, nobody will... Well die?!"
As if her nervousness was cue, the voices started to work their way back into Ashton's mind. You haven't introduced us. Ashton sprung from the bed and turned the volume dial on the stereo a few times, Lorde blasting through the room. She closed the distance between the speaker and herself, resting her ear against the vibrating object.
Cola with the burnt-out taste I'm the one you tell your fears to There'll never be enough of us
Ashton squeezed her eyes shut and focused on the lyrics. It was then she remembered the pills Charles gave her. She lifted her head off the stereo, aiming to aquire the small bottle of sedatives. You don't need those. You have a perfectly good stress reliever next to you. Just kill her... "STOP!" Ashton blushed as she remembered the other presence in the room. She turned towards Anaya and pleaded with her, yelling over the music.
"I'm soooo sorry! Could you get me my, uhh, pills? They're in the top drawer of the bedside table in a small prescription bottle! Hurry!" As she spoke, Ashton pointed in the location, eyes clenched tight again and her body rigid.

"Well it's really no contest, to be honest. We just practice control over our powers. Some of our senior members are just better at it than others." Anaya said trying to make sense of the undoubtedly confusing situation.
"Oh no! No one's ever died in there, we just train. Besides there's always one or two of the veterans with us. They wouldn't let anything bad happen." Anaya spoke with confidence. She kept being brought back to wonder why this girl insisted on constantly listening to this music.
"Wha-?" Anaya was kind of thrown back with that outburst. She eyed her new acquaintance carefully. Of course she was kind of used to this kind of thing, though mutants in her time were taught from an early age. There were always those that had some undesirable side effects that took some time to get used to.
"No problem..." Anaya said still trying to figure out what was going on. She stood up quickly, searched through the contents of the drawer. Once the bottle was in hand Anaya got it over to Ashton as quickly as possible. "Is this the one?" She asked holding out the bottle for Ashton to see.
