WARNING!The following story contains scenes that are sexually suggestive, and open to the idea of homosexuality. Those who do not appreciate such things should avoid this story.
Some stories start with: “Once upon a time,” and end with: “Happily ever after.”
But this isn’t just your average fairy tale. This is the story of a young boy who desperately yearned to find his place in the world. His body longed for affection, his soul cried out for music. His tone majestic, his appearance pleasing… But circumstances don’t always allow the dreams of the heart to be fulfilled. Many a lesson was to be learned by this young boy before he could shine like the star he was born to become. This is the story of Temris Windsong, a Dark Elf who needed so badly to prove himself worthy of his dreams.
The story begins on a warm inviting day in the shady glades of the Lunarian Vaile, a small peaceful colony of Elves, varying in types from Moon Elves, wood Elves, Sun Elves, and even Drows. He woke up rubbing his eyes and staring out of the window of his tree house home. Temris was quick to dress himself beginning his daily routine, he stepped outside ready to start a new day. The village was a bit quiet that day but he paid little mind as many of the people outside were speaking amongst each other in their usual manner. Only this time there words though unheard seemed to take on an air of caution and terror. Rumor was that several nearby villages had recently been burned to the ground.
The day moved by quickly and the sun began to fade, the night grew cold and a strange fog began to roll in, it wasn’t a white fog but black, Temris was in no way adept with magic, but he could sense that this was no ordinary fog, that it was in fact the manifestation of a diabolical entity. One that would change his life forever. He rushed back home as quickly as he could. His eyes beheld with horror the village was in ruins. Many of the houses burned otherwise simply destroyed. The only one thing that remained of his home was the charred carcass of the tree he’d once called his home. That, and his father’s sword which had survived the blaze, it was a fine silver blade with serrated edges, he’d never seen it used, but it looked as if it be a very ferocious weapon.
Temris was also able to make out the charcoaled remains of his mother’s corps, confirming her fate. Tears were brought to his eyes as he looked over her battered body. A voice from the shadows called to him weakly. “T-Temris… My son, Praise Lunara you’re unharmed.”
“Father!” Temris exclaimed running over to his beloved father’s body, he’d been beaten badly. “what happened?” The old elf in no way wished to burden his dear child with the horrors of the battle, in all honesty he had little more than the strength left then to send him away. “Listen boy, you must go, it’s much too late for me, Take what little there is left in the village it may be able to help you.” The exhausted dark elf’s voice shivered with pain. He was covered in blood, and the grass around him soaked with his life fluids. “No I can’t leave you here!” Temris cried out in pain. “I just can’t!”
“Go Boy..!” He shouted catching his breath for a moment “Now!” He continued knowing he had little time left. His only child knew better than to disobey when his father ordered him to do something. The proud elf took one last look at his son smiling with the knowledge that he’d survive. Then his head slowly fell to the ground. Temris could no longer control the tears as they fell, but he knew what he had to do. He gathered the scarce supplies from the village and left on his journey…
Chapter 1
Into The Frigid Blackness
Temris set out on the long journey to an unknown destination; he travelled for days, and nights stopping only at water springs, and bushes to replenish his food. Each night he sang the same song to himself each time reminding him of his mother’s soothing voice. “Not another long night of loneliness, my broken heart bleeding to death… It hurts just like an icy knife; won’t somebody save me from these cold nights..?” Each morning he awoke with an ever lessening will to go on, he paid no attention to where he went, only to the rise and fall of the sun, as he walked the seemingly endless path.
“A little bit dangerous to travel alone don’t you think kid?” A Drow spoke out from the shadowy mist of cold, dark night. “Not unless you plan on making it that way. It’s not like I could really sink any lower right now though.” Temris spoke gently, not even bothering to look and see where the sound of the voice was coming from. “I’m not gonna hurt you kid, just giving you a warning. I saw what happened at The Lunarian Vaile, I’ve been watching you ever since.” He spoke his voice taking on a slightly more empathetic tone. “It left me with nothing, they’re all gone, and why have you been watching me?”
“Just making sure you stay out of trouble, after all you’ve been sleeping on the roadside for days, come on, there’s a cave close by it’d be a safer place to rest.” The strange elf put his hand on Temris shoulder, and slowly they headed out for the cave. Upon their arrival they went inside letting their nocturnal vision show them the way. They laid down a bed of bear skinned fur, and a blanket before so much as another word was spoken. “So what’s your name kid?” He asked out of curiosity. “I’m Temris, what about you?” He asked in return. “Temris huh? That sounds nice, my name’s Thalaña. I’m nineteen, and I like to practice my archery, and swordsman skills. What about you?” He then followed up figuring he might as well get to know the boy he’d been stalking. “I’m seventeen, and I like to sing.” Remembering how he, and his mother used to sing together brought more tears to his eyes. Taking note of this, Thalaña took the young boy in his arms offering what little comfort he could. In all honesty he saw a lot of himself in the boy, a lonely child, no family, or any friends.
“Everything’s gonna be just fine Temris you’ll see.” He spoke as the boy fell into his arms, Temris’ sorrow burst from his eyes like a stream newly liberated from a dammed up river bed. “I’ll be here to look after you now.” Thalaña continued. “Really..? You will?” Temris asked wiping the tears from his eyes. “Sure.” Thalaña responded with a reassuring tone. To which Temris responded with a tight hug. Thalaña himself couldn’t help but wrap his arms around the boy, then laying back began to slowly rub his hands gently across his new found little friends back. “Now I don’t have to be alone anymore.” Temris mumbled softly as he drifted off into a world of dreams atop his new best friend’s chest.
The two awoke to a burst of light penetrating the cave, a new day had begun. Temris rubbed his eyes for a moment before squinting. The cave… It was gorgeous filled with crystals all around they glittered in the glint of sunlight that made it through spraying an array of colors all over the cave wall. “Wow this place is beautiful!” Temris exclaimed. “Yes it is, I like to sleep in this cave from time to time for this very reason.”
“I can tell why, it’s amazing.” He then looked over to his new friend understanding now why he couldn’t really see him in the dark cover of night. He was a Drow, a black skinned elf. They were very different the pair. Thalaña with his black skin, and colorless eyes, the white hair making a somewhat frightening contrast to his appearance, while Temris possessing light blue skin and deep purple hair, was a bit more normal. Drows were typically hated throughout the realms, as they were the result of an elf with demon blood. Things like that didn’t ever bother Temris, but his mother always told him that they were always tricksters. Though to his personal understanding, the flower that blooms in adversity is often beautiful, but severely biased. His father typically just didn’t add his own input, it often made Temris wonder if he even had an opinion of his own or just went with everything his mother decided. But now wasn’t the time to dwell on such thoughts. Today was a day of happiness, Temris had a new friend. Friends weren’t something he came by often, but perhaps his luck was changing.
“So where you plan on going to Temris?” Thalaña asked eager to accompany the first friend he ever truly had. “I figure that I’ll need to travel around learning some magic skills. Only then I can go face off against the ones who destroyed the village. Would you by any chance happen to know anything about them, perhaps some useful spells to use against them?” Thalaña paused for a while before he spoke. “Well I suppose I could teach you some spells, as for information on those creatures…” He contemplated yet again he was hesitant to share his knowledge of them.
“C’mon Thalaña if you know something please tell me… You’d want to avenge your family and friends if someone destroyed them.” ‘Don’t be so sure kid it’d be a good thing if someone killed them.’ He thought to himself before deciding it’d be batter to chance telling him rather than holding that information in. After all he would need Temris to trust him otherwise they’d never reach that goal. “They’re called Naga, serpentine creatures that were once elves, but their lust for power cursed them just as my Drow ancestors. Earth spells are more or less useless on them, but electricity has been proven to be effective, if they aren’t any good with magic you can even beat them with fire. But don’t even think about using water on the Naga… It’s their base element.”
“Okay, so teach me.” The naïve boy though only two years under Thalaña in age had no idea how hard using magic could be, or the fact some people took years to master it. “Well it’s not that simple, you see you need to practice with magic a lot before you actually get it right.” Thalaña gave him an example of a basic electric attack sending a surge of electricity to a nearby tree blasting it to pieces. But much to his surprise Temris was able to concentrate enough to send an even larger blast to several nearby trees. “You’re learning much quicker than I expected, but let’s see if you can do this.” Thalaña then opened his hand the air above it sparked to life with a flame. Temris gave his best attempt at it but failed. But such a thing was more advanced creating fire was one of the hardest things to learn.
Like a good teacher Thalaña continued to train Temris in the ways of magic. Within several weeks he was able to master several levels of attacks from each of the elements. As this time went by they grew closer, and closer as their friendship grew.
Chapter 2
Slowly Falling
Temris noticed that as time went be he was slowly gravitating more and more to Thalaña. For some reason his body began to crave being closer to him for some mysterious reason. Thalaña found it near impossible to take his eyes off Temris; they were always drawn to him. Often they’d catch each other’s gaze, to which they’d usually respond with a small laugh and smile. Thalaña just trying to break the awkward silence would usually compliment Temris’ efforts.
They often stood inches away from each other as they practiced the various postures required to conjure the correct energies for their spells. Thalaña often found himself mesmerized as he’d sometimes stand back and sit down watching Temris going through the motions. The graceful movements seemed to draw him along as the song of the murderous Siren’s song drew in countless sailors to their deaths. Thalaña would willingly allow himself to be lead down to his destruction at Temris hands.
Meanwhile he would do his best whenever practicing his sword fighting to impress Temris. He’d often take a glance to the side just to make sure Temris was watching his every move. Which he was, every movement of Thalaña’s muscles was monitored carefully. Soon Temris was adept enough with the magic that the two of them moved in perfect sync, and even experimenting with their ability to combine their spells. Thalaña then began to have them spar with their magic. Temris took a heavy liking to the use of ice abilities, especially to send razor sharp shards flying at his target.
The clashing of their powers was impressive, they both seemed to know just how to counter each other’s attack; they’d take turns going aggressive, then defensive. Temris opened with a water attack blasting a bolt of hyper compressed water at Thalaña, who in turn responded by summoning up a shield of roots to block out the water. Then following up with a double threat, it was something he hadn’t thus far trained Temris for. One hand shot bolts of lightning out toward Temris, he was able to dodge the attacks but Thalaña threw in a wind attack catching Temris of guard throwing him to the ground.
Thalaña rushed over his first concern of course to ensure that his friend was ok. “Great attack Thalaña, caught me totally unprepared.” Temris spoke out wiping the dust off his clothes. He didn’t seem to be disappointed that he’d been beaten, just happy he was learning. Thalaña reached out his hand to pull him up, he pulled a bit harder than he’d expected. The extra force brought Temris right up landing firmly against his chest. There was a long period of silence before Thalaña was finally able to snap out of his daze. “So you’re ok then I presume? Maybe we should call it a day what do you think?”
“Sure Thalaña, I’m exhausted. Why don’t we go relax in the hot spring for a while? My body is aching after that last attack.” Thalaña was pretty beat too the both of them were pretty in sweat. “Good idea we need to get cleaned up anyway. Race you there.” He said taking off at full speed. Temris dashed off right behind him. Temris was a bit behind him but he summoned up a tree root to trip Thalaña. “Nice try boy but it’s not gonna work!” He called back jumping over the vine but turning his head back around just in time to see that he was about to smack into a tree branch, as he was clothes lined the tree with a loud thud.
“Temris, you… cheater!” Thalaña exclaimed as he got back up. Temris couldn’t help but laugh. “Then next time look where you’re going.” They laughed and began continuing on to the hot spring. Both of them quickly undressing then stepped into the soothingly hot water. “This is just what I needed, that and seeing you smack your head against that tree, the mighty warrior who fell at the hand of an even mightier tree…”
“Temris I’m gonna get you for that sometime just you wait, your time is coming.” The Drow’s facial skin flushed a bit red. Not just for what had happened with the tree. His eyes scanned across Temris’ gorgeous blue skin, and seeing him stretch his arms out gracefully among the steam of the heated water. “I’m sure it is.” Temris spoke as he stretched, their feet touched for a brief moment, and he immediately retracted his foot. A pale tone of red slowly crept across Temris’ cheeks as well.
“Something wrong Temris?” Thalaña asked gently as he moved around to sit next to his only friend. “No… I-it’s nothing…” Temris said gazing down Thalaña’s rough skin; his face only went to a deeper shade of red as Thalaña took his hand. “You know you can tell me anything, you don’t have to be afraid of me.”
“Thalaña it’s so hard to say this…” Temris turned around to face Thalaña to see his right there.
They were so close, and being drawn ever so slowly closer, and closer. Thalaña pulled Temris up against his body, they embraced, and birds sang elegantly as they shared their first kiss. A moment later they parted their lips smiling delicately at each other. “I feel the same way Temris, but I think maybe we should take our time with this to see where this leads us.” Thalaña spoke gently as Temris lay down against his companion’s chest. The two stayed there for several hours until night fell.
The two stood up out of the spring dressing themselves quickly they began the trek back to their cave were they snuggled up tightly to one another before falling to sleep. Dreaming of a wonderful future, one they would share together.
Chapter 3
Mystical Bond
Three Months after the start of Temris’ initial magic training the two elves had grown quite close to each other. Temris was surpassing all of Thalaña’s expectations. But the biggest surprise was yet to come as one night in the cave practicing the motions and incantations to conjure spells, a bad step put Temris face to face with Thalaña once again. An overwhelmingly powerful feeling came over the both of them. They were drawn to one another as if some unseen force was pulling them each closer to the other. Their lips met; passion there abided, and for a minute time stopped moving around them as they kissed for an eternity. Neither of them could manage to say a word their hearts rushing never had either felt such a strong feeling. They felt no more strength available other than to cling tight to each other as they lay down staring deeply into the other’s eyes until they fell into a world of blissful dreams.
The day broke and they awoke to the dazzling lights of the caves once more only this time they enjoyed it so much more as they held hands and watched the lights dance across the cave walls. They held each other close giving soft kisses to each other before standing up dressing themselves for the day and heading out of the cave. They wasted no time in beginning their usual sparring matches when Temris decided to do something new he applied the fire element to his sword taking Thalaña by surprise and moving in for the final blow he stopped just short of him, and changed the element to water spraying him with it before giggling rather childishly.
“So you think that’s funny huh?” He said in a pouting manner. “Sure it is bright eyes!”
“Bright eyes huh? You’re asking for it!” a gust of wind began circulating around Thalaña until it gained enough energy and he released a small scale cyclone at Temris who was swept up by its power. Of course he was unharmed just currently being spun around at high speeds. Thalaña didn’t really have it in him to be that mean to his new friend turned love. So he prepared to do something daring he jumped forward into the small tornado and flew out the other side carrying Temris in his arms. “My hero…” Temris spoke in a manner that resembled those timeless romantic stories of a daring prince who rescues his love from the depths of Hell.
“Awww look what you did… Shame on you making me blush like this…” They laughed for a moment before they brought their lips together once again. ”I Love you Temris I really do.” He spoke in a low romantic tone. “I know we’ve only known each other for a few months noew, but I must ask…” He hesitated for a moment not even able to believe the words that were about to leave his mouth. “I would be honored if you would accept me as your love, not just as occasional picnics or stuff like that. But to consider you as my own...” There was a moment of silence before Temris responded. “Of course Thalaña I’ve never felt this strongly for anyone else in my life, it would be a privilege.” The moments that followed can only be described with words of pure unbridled passion was let loose to run wild, and free as the horse majestically strides its’ territory.
Seven months pass by and their affections only grow stronger but little did they know that from somewhere beyond, someone was able to detect the magical outbursts of their training. The warlord was displeased he would see to it that their powers would never grow enough to actually face his master. The evil warlord began plotting. His plan was all the more intriguing for him especially because of the Drow accompanying his target. He knew exactly what to do. “Faridous Bring me boys, I want them both unharmed, you may use whatever force necessary.”
“Yes Lord Keiathus.” The loyal Naga chieftain agreed, immediately dispatching his troops to the cave where his enemies sought refuge. They reached the cave just before daybreak scheming, and preparing. The Naga were excellent hunters. They could pull off many strategies that other species could not simply for being large amphibians. They watched as the two unwittingly awoke. They embraced for a moment before preparing themselves to face the day.
But their time was cut short when a small rock fell from a formation. Thalaña looked back sensing the danger immediately. The Naga released its’ grip on the formation of crystal, and rock leaping forth to grab Temris. Thalaña threw himself in the way. He tried his best to maintain a burst of wind to hold the creature back but it was no use. Apart from the fact that the creature was too strong, two other appeared at his side grabbing his arm removing the important posture needed to maintain the spell.
Temris was in no way ready to stand by idly, he had to do something. He grabbed his sword and ran to his love’s aid. Amplifying the swords power with lightning force, he jumped into the air landing a split second later. A couple second later the creatures that held Thalaña still, found their heads toppling to the ground. Unfortunately Temris too fell to the cave floor, as the chieftain had snuck up from behind and struck Temris hard. He grabbed the young elf’s body and prepared to impale him with his trident. Little did Thalaña know this was a bluff, but he fell into it none the less. “No! Wait please don’t hurt him, I know it’s me you want anyway. I’ll go quietly just please don’t hurt him.” Thalaña ducked his head down in shame he’d been so foolish to stay there for too long, but nothing could change that now.
“The prodigal son has made a most wise decision, the master will be pleased. Chain him up the master will be most grateful for our haste, and we shall be rewarded for our efforts. Handsomely…” The Naga chained up their new captives placed them in cages then began the journey back to the citadel where their master anxiously awaited their return. His delight was hysterical had knew just how to tear them apart. It would be all too easy to play on Temris’ fragile emotions. For he knew a secret Thalaña had neglected to mention. He would ensure that this damning information sunk into Temris’ heart like a knife.
Chapter 4
Thalaña’s Terrible Secret
The two prisoners were presented to the warlord who promptly sent his servitors away. “Thalaña it has been so long where have you been? You had me worried.” Keiathus spoke mockingly. “You know that I insist on getting to know those you associate with.” The warlord was brought to a brief period of laughter. “What is he talking about Thalaña, do you know him or something?” Temris asked obviously not feeling comfortable in the presence of his captor. “Don’t listen to him, he’ll do anything he can to tear you down, just don’t let him do it.”
“Oh but I must tell you something dear Temris… Thalaña has a terrible, absolutely atrocious secret.” Thalaña’s eyes widened in horror as he listened to his ‘father’ whisper in Temris’ ear... “He’s my son, and he’s actually only half Drow, the other half is demon. He watched from the side as your village burned without doing a thing, and has done the same with countless others. I bet the only reason he makes love to you is only out of his feelings of guilt.” The dark lord let out a hideous laugh after seeing the expression on Temris’ face change from one of stubbornness to total heartache.
“Please Thalaña… Swear to me that it’s not true.” Temris cried out through tear filled eyes. “I-I… I didn’t mean for any of this to happen...” Thalaña responded confirming that yes he’d watched it all go on. “Thalaña how could you?!” Temris fell to his knees he felt as if his heart could die any moment. “Oh sure he didn’t mean to do nothing, he just watched it all happen, as if it could be entertaining to see your very people being shredded apart by my warriors.” Temris was in unimaginable pain, but mostly in shock. “I can’t believe this, how could he? Thalaña has been far to kind to me.”
“You’d be amazed at the things some people can do when they are ashamed of their sins. But why don’t we settle this disbelief once and for all. Show him! Show him your real form my child.” Keiathus commanded.
“And if I refuse?” He responded rebelliously. “Then Temris goes on without ever knowing the truth. But the shame is that you’d only prove that you didn’t love him enough to be truthful, doesn’t he at least deserve that from you, especially since he’s pledged his soul to you?” The meticulously sinister baron antagonized. “Thalaña I’d rather die believing a lie, knowing you loved me, than to believe all the horrible things he’s accused you of.” The pain Temris was in was so unreal, that even breathing became all but impossible, his chest felt as though it was being crushed beneath the feet of many great giants.
“What an excellent idea! How about if you don’t show him the truth then I kill him? He will pay the ultimate price for your dishonest heart. All because you wouldn’t confess to all that I have spoken of. My dear boy this only proves you unworthy of his love, you deserve nothing from this boy especially not his undying love.” Thalaña felt his heart being ripped to pieces. If he didn’t show Temris his real form he’d lose him forever. But if he did confirm what his father had spoken to be true he’d lose Temris anyway. “My dearest child, you’re running out of time…” The warlord taunted, before unsheathing his sword ready to kill Temris. “No! I’ll do it! I’ll do it!” Thalaña cried out. Dark red smoke started to swirl slowly around Thalaña at his feet as his body began to change. The transformation didn’t make him much different he seemed to have more muscle tissue but other than that the only other change was a pair of horns at the top of his head.
Thalaña’s only reason for doing this was simply the off chance that he might eventually be pardoned of his sins, the damningly terrible omitted truths. “So it’s true, I never should’ve trust you, and to think I was so blind, when you knew so much about the enemies we were to face. Yet I, in my naivety suspected nothing. It’s all so obvious now; you wanted to make me feel loved so you could sleep at night. Just so you wouldn’t feel so guilty!”
“Please my love you must understand I didn’t want for any of this to happen. I never wanted you to see me this way…” Thalaña’s head was bowed low he was even ashamed to show his tear filled face. “How could you just sit back and let it all happen, to just watch my entire life being wiped from this world?”
“I’m so sorry, I truly hoped you would never find this out, I regret everything I am, please forgive me…”
At this point Keiathus was confident enough to release their shackles he’d successfully turned Temris against his son manipulating his own way out of his problems.
“Forget it Thalaña. You watched as my parents were slaughtered I can’t just forgive that…”
“But I…” Thalaña was interrupted by a blast of razor sharp ice that just barely missed his heart nicking his side, and under arm. “I’ve had enough of you! Just leave! I never want to see you again!” Temris was so enraged that he would even be prepared enough to kill Thalaña should he be given the opportunity.
“As you wish my love, but just think about this. Which is worse? That I stood back, and later didn’t tell you what I really was? Or that even after me swearing my heart, and soul to you, I get nothing but rejection from you? But not just that, you allow the one who’s responsible for all of these killings tear us apart so easily. Just do me a favor and think about that.” The blood was flowing in a rather steady stream down Thalaña’s side while he clutched it tight to slow the bleeding a bit, and then vanished in a puff of smoke.
Temris was left dumbstruck. He couldn’t believe how easily he’d allowed himself to be manipulated into pushing away the very last person he had in this world, worse yet added injury to a bad enough insult by attacking him. Temris knew that the one who needed forgiving wasn’t Thalaña, it was he himself. Temris shouted out his curses, as he pounded the ground his anger, and pain fueling a large earthquake, but he didn’t stop there. Temris sparked an enormous flame inside the palace giving him the diversion he’d need to get away. Then ran away from the citadel as fast as he could, he needed to find Thalaña and prayed that perhaps he’d be more merciful. Though Temris ran as fast as he could nonstop he wasn’t able to reach cave until a week later as he was unable to use a way gate such as the Naga had used to transport them.
Now came the difficult part, here he would have to face the love of his life. Tell him just how sorry he was, and just how much he wished he could take it all back. Beg for forgiveness praying Thalaña would accept.
Exhausted from the constant running Temris collapsed just outside the cave, his body had been pushed far beyond its’ limits, the only thing he could do was tell himself that he had to keep going though he’d arrived at the cave he would not have completed his task until he’d made amends for that which he had done. But he couldn’t go on so much as even one more step; Temris’ body didn’t even have the strength to lift him an inch off the ground, or even crawl for that matter. All he could do was to reach out his hand as he faded from consciousness.
Chapter 5
Solemn Vow
Temris awoke inside the cave all his wounds were bandaged. He tried to raise his body up but he only managed to get a foot off the ground before falling back to the cave floor. “You’re awake I see. I’m actually shocked to see you back, let alone so quickly.” Thalaña’s voice spoke from the shadows. ”I-I had to come, couldn’t let things end like that.” Temris was somehow still short of breath even though he’d been out for three days. “I don’t get it though kid how could you get back so quickly? You don’t know how to teleport even two feet in front of you. Even running at top speed it’d take more than a week.”
“I didn’t stop to rest, just kept going.” Thalaña was awestruck at the dedication nobody ever did stuff like that especially not for a demon. “Temris… Why? I mean you hated me back there? I was practically begging you on my knees to look past what I was, yet you had no problem mercilessly tearing me to pieces. Why would you do that? Apart from it not making sense you could’ve killed yourself with such an exertion.” Though Thalaña didn’t want to admit it he still couldn’t deny that he cared.
“I had to tell you, I’m sorry. I really am, I just couldn’t let you go on believing that I hated you. What happened had nothing to do with you, yet I was so blind I sat there listening to the enemy, but lashed out at you when you tried to defend yourself. I just wish I could take it all back.” Thalaña thought for a long moment before speaking in response. “Temris, that’s a lot for me to look past… I don’t know if I can. I’d given you every part of me just to have you throw me aside as if I was nothing to you.”Temris knew that his odds of actually being forgiven were slim. “Look I get it if you don’t want…”
Thalaña reached out from the darkness, and pulled his finger down across Temris’ lips. “It might be hard... I mean Temris, you have no idea how much that hurt me. To see him turn you against me like that…" He paused before continuing. Meanwhile Temris’ heart hung by a thread knowing any moment the heavily frayed chord could snap. “But… Well, I do think I live with that, so long as you stay by my side. Think you can handle the look though?” Thalaña asked stepping out from the shadows.
“So what do you think? Can you still stand me? Or am I too repulsive?” Thalaña had an expression of mixed fear, and concern on his face. Temris grimaced a bit before taking in a tiny gulp of air. “I think I can handle it, but it will take a bit of getting used to.” Though Temris really did somewhat find a certain appeal to Thalaña’s true form, the change was very drastic. But Temris’ answer actually about knocked Thalaña to the floor, even more so when Temris came closer clinging tightly to him. They embraced each other for a long time before their passions escalated. Before long they were lost in a world of only each other, their love revived like a phoenix but this time burning brighter than it ever had before.
Dawn broke the next morning, the two already preparing for what lay ahead. It was time for revenge they’d ensure that Keiathus paid for what he did to them. But first they would need to see to it that they were better prepared for what lay ahead. “Temris promise me that this time you will stay by my side.” Thalaña wasn’t about to risk losing Temris again. “I promise upon my life, I’ll die before I give you up.” This time they wouldn’t be manipulated so easily. But the cave could no longer be their place to stay they would have to live in a less conspicuous location, some place big like a city. Though finding a house would be the problem especially for a demon. With that in mind Thalaña resumed the use of his Drow disguise. However there was a surprise awaiting Temris at the city, but would it prove to be a blessing, or a curse?
Chapter 6
Alive Again?!
Their love once again renewed the couple headed to the nearest city. The town of Kelthalon where there lived many inhabitants for the cities relatively small size they moved along questioning various people about any homes that might be available. Finally after several hours of asking around they were able to find a house on the edge of town where they could live. There was however a problem, gold something they didn’t have.
“Thalaña why are you so relaxed..? I mean we can’t buy a home if we don’t have any gold.” Temris was beginning to wonder if it was just their luck or if they were cursed. “Don’t trouble yourself love, your face is too pretty.” Thalaña spoke picking up a rock, gripping it firmly in his hand; suddenly the rock began to glow. Thalaña closed his eyes concentrating hard, then somehow the rock was changed, it was literally turned to gold. “Thalaña you’re using magic to produce gold?”
“Technically its alchemy, notice the reduction in size? This rock in value of gold is equivalent. Just don’t tell the landlord that. It’ll be our little secret.” He smiled fiendishly then they proceeded to meet with the landlord.
“Good day sir, I’ve come here to buy the house just on the edge of town.” Temris would do the talking on this occasion, as his particular tone would do better in more diplomatic situations. The land owner looked at the pair raising an eyebrow.
“Bit of a strange companion no lad?” Thalaña just about wanted to grab the dwarf, rip his arms off and beat him to death with his own two fists. “He’s my body guard, and he gets the job done. I suggest you don’t insult him, he’s liable to make you a bit shorter, and last I knew as far as you kind is concerned every last inch counts.”
“You couldn’t be more right.” The little merchant spoke in an almost frantic tone. “Now about the money..?” The dwarf spoke. Temris pulled the large chunk of gold from his bag handing it to the greedy little dwarf. The agreement was confirmed, the house was officially theirs. However on the way there something peculiar happened.
Temris was shocked he couldn’t believe his eyes but as he passed through the market square he saw his mother, and father. He was filled with joy, and so much surprise. The three of them met with a hug. Nioku, Temris’ father couldn’t seem to believe that his son was doing perfectly fine.
“My goodness child you’ve bulked up.” What Miena however seemed more focused on was his Drow companion. “Temris dear, is that Drow with you?” Temris face went a bit red he wasn’t exactly sure how he’d explain this. Thalaña was highly displeased with her tone. “Yes, as a matter of fact we are together, in love to be more specific.” Thalaña couldn’t believe this, if it wasn’t one person having a problem it was another, and even worse that this time it was his parents.
“Mom, can’t you just let go of the whole problem you have against Drows? Thalaña is different.”
Temris’ father didn’t exactly approve of their relationship either. “I can’t say I agree with you two being together it’s just not normal, if you continue on like this I must advise you that you don’t have my blessing to do so.” Nioku spoke releasing Temris from his embrace. “Ever stop and think about what maybe he might want rather than the ‘What’s Normal’?” Thalaña asked getting more and more annoyed by the moment. “This one seems to have quite the mouth too.” Miena spoke with a razor sharp glance at Thalaña. “I’m afraid I must forbid this. You should come with us son, perhaps we should take you to the cleric that healed us, and maybe he could cure you too.”
“No! Mom, Dad, why are you two doing this..? I just find out that you’re ok and the first thing you do is persecute me for falling in love with the man who saved me?” Thalaña backed away from them slowly.
“Boy! Come with us, we can go home.”
“He’s not going with you, we’re staying together.” Thalaña spoke stepping in front of Temris ready to defend him. For some reason Thalaña could sense that something wasn’t right they spoke of a cleric who revived them but they didn’t seem to have any sort of aura about them to suggest that it was actually true. “Hold tightly to me Temris I’m going to try something.” Temris did just that, he wrapped his arms around Thalaña as tightly as he could. Then they vanished into thin air with a puff of smoke, immediately appearing at their new home.
A dark, shady hooded figure appeared behind Nioku, and Miena. “You’ve failed to retrieve the boy, he must not be allowed to grow stronger.” The mysterious hooded figure spoke. “Do not worry milord we shall not fail, the one who accompanies him is the real problem, once we separate them Temris will be yours. Then suddenly the stranger vanished. “We must hunt them down Nioku.” Miena spoke coldly to her husband. “We will find them.” Nioku responded shortly.
Temris and Thalaña arrived at the house luckily unharmed as Temris had not let go of Thalaña while they traveled. Had he not held on he’d have been lost in the gateway dimension probably forever. “I can’t believe this they’re back, and the first thing they want to do is rip us apart. Never mind just being happy that I’m alive, they want to split us up.” For the moment Thalaña would be silent with his suspicions as he had no literal proof to present it with. Beside that there was no point in bringing it up until he could really prove it.
“Well Temris at least we know they don’t know where we are, not that they don’t have an idea we’re here, but imagine the odds of that. Not to mention to have a cleric that just managed to pass by and not be killed seeing as how he would not be adept in the right magic to fight the Naga.” Thalaña thought for a moment at least presenting the idea of the rarity of their situation.
“I agree it’s too strange maybe we should delve deeper into this, but first I think we need to get rid of that Naga chieftain, and Lord Keiathus, if not their soldiers will simply keep coming.” Temris spoke up ready to being the training by their new home. The practice began rigorous as usual the two battling back, and forth with the elements and their swords.
Chapter 7
Sneak attack
The training continued on normally as it did for days, until Temris did something unusual. He pulled out his sword focusing heavily on it, it was then incased in ice yet at the same time it seemed to carry an electric charge to it. “Temris, how are you doing that?”
“Through intense focus love, why don’t you try it?” Temris taunted, Thalaña was actually more shocked than anything the boy had a strong knack for magic. But this was ridiculous. Thalaña began focusing on his own blade intent on applying fire, and earth essence. Barbs sprung from the hand guard, and the rest of the blade was ignited in flames.
“You see Thalaña? It’s really not that hard, it’s just maintaining your focus.” With that they resumed attacking each other slashing, and dodging, swinging, and parrying. They kept this up until the night when they began working on their plan to strike against the enemy. Thalaña held tightly to his love as he used his teleportation ability to transport them to the Naga’s encampment. It was time to implement phase one of their plan.
The two guards at the entrance were the first to be killed. Thalaña took aim with his bow whilst Temris snuck up behind the other one. Temris moved his blade in place just behind the Naga’s head. He signaled to Thalaña that he was ready, who then released the arrow from his bow striking the other Naga right into the heart. Immediately the second guard turned his head to the side to see what was amiss with his companion. But there wasn’t even enough time for his first thought, as Temris held the blade in place letting the poor creature move right his head right into the sword.
The crafty pair continued on through the camp stealthily killing their way to the chieftain. Who would not be taken out as easily, somehow he’d become aware of their presence. The chieftain grabbed his trident before hissing out his displeasure. “The boys have made a foolish mistake by returning here. This time, I Faridous will kill you.”
“I don’t think so snake.” Thalaña spoke drawing his sword. “Jump Temris..!” Thalaña shouted as he swung his sword into the ground channeling electricity into it. Temris jumped landing on the ground after the attack had ceased. But something seemed wrong the chieftain… He was completely unharmed. “Foolish boy, my scales are resistant to such attacks. Even when Temris threw several ice daggers they did little more than scratch his surface scales.
They would need to find a tender spot. Faridous struck hard with his trident one of the prongs jabbing into the side of Thalaña’s chest. Thalaña let out a grunt of pain as he watched the chieftain retrieve the trident and stabbing it back right into Temris left arm. The pain was too much for Temris he cried out in agony.
Thalaña was thrown into a blind rage instantly transforming him into his demon form stretching out his hand his nails extended to about a foot in length. He then using his nails instead of his sword slashed at the Naga’s side spilling out blood and all at the same time finding his only real weak spot. Temris took advantage of this opportunity blowing icy cold wind at the wound slowing down the cold blooded creature considerably. With no external heat sources to draw upon he was soon unable to move.
Temris encasing his blade with ice he struck out forward to stab into the wound, then bringing his sword up was able to cut below the thick scales of the Naga Chieftain bringing his life to a painful end.
Gripping their wounds they slowly headed out of the camp looking on toward the castle. “Thalaña we’re in no condition to fight the warlord today let’s hold off on that attack why don’t we? Temris spoke quietly trying to hold in all the pain. “You’re right we need to leave, and now.” Thalaña took hold of Temris porting them both back to their cottage.
They wasted no time in locating some spare cloth they could use to close the wounds with. Temris being the one who was least wounded insisted on tending to Thalaña first. He carefully placed the herbs, and then wrapped the cloth firmly around his love’s shoulder. After that Temris was quickly treated for his wounds. The two would need some time to recover before they could actually face off against the warlord, and they’d probably need help.
A knock came at their front door. Thalaña stood up to answer seeing a tall well-formed man at the door. “My name is Darius, I saw the raid you two did on the Naga encampment, my brother, and I would love to join you, should the two of you like to meet us we can return here in the morning. I can also help you treat those wounds before they get too serious. We know some others who might be eager to help as well.”
“We’d welcome any help we can get.” Thalaña spoke rubbing his fingers on his chin.
“We’ll see you in the morning then.” Darius said before vanishing in a flash of light. The night pressed on slowly as the two cuddled wondering if would they ever get through this rough situation. They’d need help but little did they know that the connections the priest had were quite substantial. He would bring many warriors and mages to their side.
In the morning they arose to share a quick meal before going to wait in the field just outside their home. When the priest arrived with a bright display of light there seemed to be an army following him. The numbers of fighters was staggering all of them specialists in their own different fields. Some used magic, others cunning, but the majority used extremely strong spells in a specific area to fight.
Darius and the armada of troops stepped slowly up to them. Then Darius and his brother Galathos stepped forward. “Gentlemen meet our friends…” They spoke motioning back at the large force they’d brought with them.
Chapter 8
Meet the Troops
One by one the soldiers stepped forward introducing them self, and demonstrating their powers. The first to step forward was Yuka, the dark elf wind Sorceress, and her twin sister Talis, the Necromancer.
They were followed by Galathos the Drake Sage, after-which continued Nelya the human Gladiatrix.
A dwarf engineer by the name of Seline stepped forward as well demonstrating he awesome strength by lifting up several of the various other people there. A Satyr Assassin by the name of Elron stepped forward along with his sister, a Druid with the name Drusilla. Last of all was the sun elf Aletheron who was adept in water magic, and his half elf wife Myrana who trained with fire magic.
They all demonstrated great skill in their areas, but then Darius stepped forward with a wave of his staff the wounds Thalaña, and Temris had suffered began to heal at a more or less visible pace. “Well my good elves introduce yourselves to the rest of us.” Darius spoke presenting the couple to the group. “My name is Thalaña, I’m half Drow, and half demon.” He announced before stepping aside letting Temris step forward. “I’m Temris a dark elf, like Thalaña I am capable of using all of the elements in my attacks, though we simply lack the practice to do anything overly extravagant with our powers.” The relatively short elf spoke out.
Not a moment after that was wasted as they quickly began training in the various styles of magic their companions had adapted to. Many of them had attended various schools acquiring their knowledge, an advantage that Temris, and Thalaña didn’t have. But now maybe with the help of their new friends they’d learn enough to actually consider themselves skilled.
The concentration required for the producing of these attacks was overwhelming, but even more to manipulate the elements to bend at their every whim. The only obvious solution was time and practice. Meanwhile Darius used his powers to conceal their presence. Nullifying the scrying attempts of the warlord and those he served.
The training was intense Thalaña would partner with a specific member of their ever growing group meanwhile Temris would be with another, each learning what they could from these various masters of their crafts. This was maintained for several weeks before once again they began sparring with each other.
Temris sat down in the grass outside his home, running his hand through his lavender colored hair, before folding his hands together aiming his two pointer fingers in front of him. A large plant sprung up from the ground blooming with a brilliant array of colors, the flowers bloomed quickly just to spray out a flame from their center. A well of water was ruptured releasing the heavily pressured water underneath the plant to spring forth spraying its water in all directions.
Thalaña appeared just then slashing out with his sword at the plant releasing an enormous blast of wind badly battering the enormous botanic creation, before bringing around another swing spitting an arc of lightning from his elegant blade. Temris brought himself into a state of deep concentration taking control of the plant from which rapidly grew thorns and long vines which wrapped together seemingly to form limbs.
The plant raised its enormous body from the ground striking down at Thalaña swinging its mighty vines out only to be cut down as they struck. It was an odd paradox to witness a plant with the unique ability to spray forth flames from its belly. Thalaña was left with but one option he focused hard and arched his back as large wings slowly pushed outward from underneath his skin. His tail grew larger and talons formed where once his nails were, his neck expanded completing the change into a long winged serpentine creature.
Thalaña lunged forward using his claws to slice at the plant cutting off an arm at the same time swinging his tail slicing right into the plants side. Then striking out with his teeth he began to tear at it before finishing off the monstrous flower creature with a horrendous blast of blue hot fire. Temris smiled as he saw the enormous plant hit the ground he’d learned a transmutation spell as well. A pair of angelic wings stretched out from his back, his body slowly encompassed by several pillars of fire, while his body completed the transformation. He plunged forward with his sword ready to combat his love who had taken on the form of a majestic drake. Lashing out with his sword sparks flew as sword tip met with claw. Temris jumped back for a moment putting out his arm with his hand stretched firmly toward the dragon, Thalaña stayed back waiting to see what could possibly be running through Temris’ mind. A ball of water formed in Temris’ hand after which he flung into the air where it exploded above Thalaña’s head.
The droplets fell slowly as Temris grinned wildly, Thalaña however looked confounded. “What could he possibly be thinking to do? Get me wet?” Thalaña thought in complete confusion but he was completely unaware that Temris was much had much more whit than one would guess at a first glance. Temris waved his hands out and each droplet solidified becoming a razor sharp spike of deadly ice. His arms then came back together, sending the hundreds of tiny shards on their way striking down with great speed. Thalaña was quickly taken by surprise slamming down his wings using the force of the wind it created to knock away the ice. But the exertion had taken its toll on the two; Thalaña couldn’t maintain his dragon form any longer and began to revert back into his natural form. However on the other hand Temris’ wings disappeared as he simply fell slowly from the sky and landed gently in Thalaña’s arms.
“That was quite a fight Temris, you got me exhausted.” The others in their band of warriors applauded their progress with cheer of excitement. Their advancements were phenomenal they only lacked the practice that would eliminate the exhaustion then they would be ready to face the evil Keiathus, and his new army of undead soldiers, as very few of the Naga remained after Temris’ last attack on the citadel. However they’d not weakened the warlord by much as the undead soldier raised from the thousands of dead Naga would serve better in death than they did in life. This time they would have a more difficult fight on their hands. Neither one knew just how much they would need each other in the battles to come. Though they had banded together with strong warriors, they were no army yet, especially when compared to the legions left for the warlord to rise into a new army.
Chapter 9
Evil Conjuring
Keiathus stood within the depths of his lair, the foul stench of dead hung in the air. The rotting corpses lined the walls and stairs he’d gathered them all every last one. But to what end could this possibly lead? Their bodies were lifeless or at the least so they seemed. “Serpentine creatures fallen to the grave, I call forth to you, every brigand or knave. Rise from your coffins stand by me again, to punish the weak, and to have your revenge.” The priest of doom wailed bringing down the very clouds of hell to deny these creatures of the rest that waited beyond the gates of death. Lightning flashed violently around the room but it was no ordinary ray of searing electric heat it burned a deep bloody red. A new odor hung in the air, an aroma of sulfur, and brimstone. Lastly a bright circle formed around Keiathus, the circle was filled with evil symbols he, but in order to complete the ritual pulled out a dagger slicing into his hand sealing his deal with the very Goddess of death, and hate; Neklia, to unbind these former servants of the dark lord from the cold grasp of death to rejoin this world as living dead.
The evil emissions of red cloud dispersed and filled the rotting bodies of the once dead creatures giving them life once again. Faridous was the first to come to his master’s side. “Welcome back my minion, You owe me a debt of service you will comply to this or resume you’re smoldering state.” Keiathus spoke coldly as he paid no mind to even look at the abominations he’d summoned back to life. “Yes master, I will serve your every wish.” He spoke leaning into a bow, His formerly strong green skin was somewhat transparent allowing many sight to some of the various organs bellow. The webbing was still intact between his fingers and mohawked down his back, though their navy blue had seemed to fade a bit.
The Naga had already been repulsive enough. But now they were utter abominations. The slightest glimpse would be enough to invoke eruptions from even the most fortified of stomachs. The evil master of darkness called two shadowy figures to his side. They were given their orders, simply bowed and exited to carry them out. Any fool could see that the battle had just begun. Two harbingers of doom had been sent forth to carry out a secret task. The dark haze left the room with the diabolic servants.
Back at the camp with Temris, and the ever growing war effort the sparks were flying, creatures and beings from all around gathered to see the ones who decided to fight back. They all stood with much to lose, and every, hand, paw, hoof, or mandible was needed. Each flocked with those they could round up increasing the resistance numbers from just a handful to hundreds, and thousands. The words spread quickly but that also meant soon they would be almost impossible to hide. The elves were among those who took this threat most seriously, as many of them were druids and thus connected to the land. Something of which to them, there was nothing more important. Every druid brought with them many beasts, and treants, trees who had been called upon to withdraw their roots from the ground and fight in the defense of their homes.
Apart from this wizards from many formidable schools offered their various skills. Even several mages returned from retirement to takes up their staffs once again. All were fueled by the same instinct to defend their way of life which had come under fire of arrow, and blade. The most surprising arrival was that of Temris’ parents, though they had a different agenda one that was different. But this time they were greeted differently. Temris was in no way ready to give up Thalaña, or their fight.
“Temris this is no place for you, I won’t allow this to continue.” Nioku firmly stated bringing his hand together into a fist, before Miena stepped forward to add her own two coppers into the discussion.
“Son we’ve made up our minds we won’t permit this you’re coming with us, and there’s nothing else to discuss.” Their fight was gathering too much attention, the Dragon Sage Galathos, and his brother Darius were drawn into the squabble as well. Nobody was ready to give up their leader.
Galathos slammed his fists on the ground, the earth underneath crumbling beneath his ferocious might. His body paled and changed into a silvery scaled color as his body shifted into a great winged hydra. His multiple heads snapping at Temris parents. “You’re in no place to make demands.”
“You hold no power here, it would be best you leave before my brother loses his temper.” Darius spoke rather gallantly echoing his brother’s brave words.
“Fools…” Miena scoffed lifting up her hand a dark rune appeared from beneath her palm’s flesh, as it’s light grew brighter Galathos’ strength waned. He could feel his very own energy leaving. His talons lost their shine, his wings felt heavy and slowly came to the ground, the rest of his body began to fade into a transparency. Then finally he had not the strength to keep his many heads up, and they too fell to the ground.
“Darius care for your brother, Thalaña I’ll fight them both. They need to realize for themselves that I’m no longer a child.” Thalaña nodded taken a few steps back, meanwhile Darius examined his brother. Temris however was ready to fight, the ground underneath him rumbled with the sound of an earthquake but up rose enormous roots swinging their strong vines in every direction, intent of trapping the pair into submission. Nioku drew an arrow from his quiver imbuing the tip with fire released the projectile from his bow severing off the tips of three vines then burning away the ones that tried to attack him.
Miena however relaxed she allowed the vines to encircle her then they stopped. The same runes appeared along the length of the vines before they were sent back at Temris who was caught completely off guard. They wrapped around his body before growing thorns piercing into his skin. The pain was horrible as not only was his skin torn the plant had become poisonous it’s venom now deep into his body. Temris was unconscious before he could even scream. That was when Thalaña couldn’t stand back anymore. His form changed once again he took on his demonic body. He unleashed a ghastly howl spraying fire all over the plant, and Miena who was still entangled in the plants vines keeping it subject to her will, could do little more than try and shield herself in the depths of the plant’s roots where the fire could not harm her.
That however did little as Thalaña used his alchemy powers to form gas bubbles inside of the vines, with a spark of electricity forcing them to explode sending chunks, thorns, and earth everywhere. Miena however did not rise from the roots, she’d been struck with her own poison. Nioku however was untouched. Infuriated with his wife’s position pulled a hammer from his pack slamming it onto the ground, sending a shockwave after Thalaña striking him hard and cutting into his skin, however Thalaña wasn’t ready to give up yet, as the first drop of blood hit the ground he was thrown into a bloodlust. Lunging at Nioku, slashing, tearing away flesh at every opportunity presented to him. Finally when blood covered the ground Nioku disappeared reappearing only to grab his wife before fading away into nothing once again.
-To Be Continued-
If you want to hear more then just reply saying so. As of this moment this is all I've got...
