Name: Harada Yimara
Codename: Quasar
Age: if you must know 260, looks like early twenties.
Gender: male
Birth Place: Imperial Japan
Affiliation: X-men
Physical description: Harada's eyes have a gold color as a result of his mutation. This coloration is permanent and has been since entering the 'Eclipsian Void' where his powers were changed permanently. Typically for this reason he'll wear sunglasses during the day when his eyes glow. Harada has spent a lot of time developing his physique so he is very muscular. He stands at about 5'10.
Curiously enough Harada looks more European than Japanese, that is because of his father, who was lost at sea stumbling onto the main island of Honshu Japan. He changed his name and married a Shogun's daughter. (Kari and Harada's mother.) Harada looks almost exactly like their father. (While his sister, their mother.)
Powers: Quasar has several powers that share some similarities with his sister though they are polar opposites. Whereas Kari's abilities apply to the moon, Harada's come from the sun.
Energy Storage: Harada is able to store large amounts of photonic solar energy that he absorbs through his skin. His body acts like a solar panel picking up this energy during the day. While this process is going on his eyes glow, but it only happens when he is in direct contact with sunlight. If he is on the other side of a window for example he will absorb nothing. He can retain this energy for a while, though the longer he holds it in the more his body temperature raises. Eventually if this goes on without any release, his Quasar Form will manifest on its own.
Quasar Form: When Harada either overheats or manually activates this power his body becomes surrounded either partially or completely with photonic energy. This form protects him to some degree, but mostly by giving his body direct light which he can use to heal. Also since he is surrounded by hot particles he burns, or melts through many of the things he touches.
Harada's photon form also allows him to fly. Though he's merely using his powers to propel himself through the air by riding a constant jet of his own radiation. He won't fly at night since this is a very power draining aspect of his ability. He'd run the risk of falling from the sky after an hour of flight. He also flies considerably fast, he can keep up with most commercial airliners.
Photon Blasts: Harada can also summon his photonic energy to manifest at his eyes or hands and send the particles radiating out in a few ways. He can fire beams from his eyes, and large beams from his hands. Or as well he can send shockwaves of it along the ground if he slams his fist down.
Solar Healing: One particular aspect of Harada that really separates himself from his sister, is that at night he doesn't heal. (Unless he uses his Quasar Form to photonic light for his skin to absorb.) He heals considerably faster than Kari, it is only during time when he can absorb photon particles through his skin.
General Photon Properties: Though his blasts can radiate at a temperature hot enough to incinerate a person in seconds, he does not believe in using his powers to take life. He will only use them to make an opponent submit, leaving them usually with minor to semi-severe burns. Other than that the photon particles can burn through most other materials, though diamonds, and adamantium both seem to be exempt, and his powers aren't effective against flame, or heat retarding substances.
Weaknesses: Extreme cold, hates deep water, he gets sea sick easily.
Bio/Hystory: Harada was raised primarily by both his father, and grandfather. Both of them teaching the boy what they knew, how to be a good man, and an honest person. From his grandfather, he learned the disciplined art of bushido, the art taught to the samurai. He was taught to obey this code of conduct, and protect those around him. From his father, he learned about the idea of peaceful coexistence. In an era of warring states, and clans, this was considered an outrage. It wasn't long before the ideals of Harada's father brought their enemies down upon them.
Nearly their entire clan was slaughtered in one night. Harada's father was killed, and his severed head cast before his two children and wife. Harada's grandfather gave his life alongside his daughter to protect their offspring. His mother using up the last of her life's energy to destroy enough of the hostile forces to allow her two children to escape with only a few wounds. For Harada this mainly speaks of a scar that stretches down the length of his back from one shoulder to the opposing hip.
Harada followed under his sister's care as she led them out of Japan, and through China. His powers manifested eventually in the middle of the day. The entire village was subsequently set ablaze, everything Harada touched was burned. Nearly a hundred people were killed that day from the fire. Harada swore that he'd learn to control this power, and that not one other life would fall as a result of it. He kept himself hidden in the day, away from the sun. It's hot touch sent a vibration through his skin. It had to be the source of his power. Though it took him around five years, he was finally able to master these powers, and keep control even during the daylight, though he chose to remain hidden, as he couldn't hide the glowing of his eyes in the sun.
Eventually Harada followed his sister to Spain, their father's homeland. He watched as Kari fell in love with a man, and watched with horror, as this man tore her heart to shreds. When they left he took it upon himself to protect her. Harada convinced Kari to return to Japan, that they could start over there again. So much time had passed and surely no living being could remember them.
Though a few decades later Harada allowed another man to court his sister. This led to great turmoil, he backed away giving them the space his sister was asking for. But he realized later that this was a mistake. This man held no love for his sister, and when he found out about her mutation the man reported her to the authorities. Sadly by the time Kari was taken, Harada was too late to rescue her. She was taken, and he couldn't find her. Harada knew that they couldn't possibly hold his sister forever. But after more than fifty years of searching for her. Scouring all over Asia, and Europe, he could find no trace of his sister, until he was led to New York with a rumor that she'd been seen alive.
One of Harada's vocal students had moved there, and swore that he'd seen the woman Harada had described to him. Immediately he set out from London to New York. His mind set on finding her again.
Two hundred, and sixty three years later, he joined the X-Men following his sister, he had little to learn in the way of power control, but he did need the feeling of unity it gave, a sense of security. He even settled down enough to find a girlfriend one who didn't care if he was different, but love him all the same. Not much later he was kidnapped by a secret organization who wanted to see if they could rectify the mistakes they had made with his sister, and see if they could duplicate their previous successes with the adamantium bonding process. But as typically with such projects he like his sister escaped of course with some help.
But this help came at a price, his lover's life was taken from him. With the only woman to love him now gone, he went insane killing people for a living, and has continued to do so until now.
